News that ‘The Young and the Restless’ reached out to Victoria Rowell (Drucilla) could also allow another breakthrough. While one of Y&R’s all-time great actors hasn’t appeared in character since 2007, she will appear, along with other cast members, as herself in a special tribute episode honoring Kristoff St. John (Neil)
on April 29.
St. John’s unexpected passing last month saddened soap fans across the globe. Those who knew and worked with him, including Rowell, have universally offered fond memories of their friend and colleague ever since. In Rowell’s case, she and St. John forged daytime history through their character portrayals on Y&R, starting in the early 1990’s.
Young And The Restless – Neil Winters And Drucilla’s Love Story
Neil and Dru’s love story was a major factor in many Y&R’s storylines through the end of Rowell’s run. Together the Winters formed one of the show’s most iconic couples and created a family that persists, as Lily (Christel Khalil), their daughter, and Devon (Bryton James), their adopted son, remain part of Genoa City’s lore.
It’s understood that Rowell and some Y&R decision-makers had professional disagreements, which led to Dru’s dramatic write-off twelve years ago. Hardcore fans of Rowell’s indelible work have longed for the day when the actor and Y&R would find a way to move forward together. So maybe Rowell’s inclusion St. John’s tribute and her acceptance in doing so provides an opportunity for healing?
St. John long advocated for Rowell’s return, but wasn’t able to realize that during his lifetime. His desire to work together with his undisputed greatest partner could still produce an outcome that allows Rowell and Y&R to honor his legacy in a manner that wouldn’t have been possible before.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Victoria Rowell’s Return
Rowell’s appearance, along with Khalil, Mishael Morgan (Hilary), and Shemar Moore (Malcolm), who will reprise his character during episodes on April 25 and 26, will afford an opportunity for her and the others to share their thoughts and feelings about St. John’s life and career. Following those moments, Rowell’s return as Dru in the near future would provide a gift to every fan and create an outcome that St. John’s ongoing positive presence would bless.
