Royal Family News: King Charles’ Coronation Date A Diss To Prince Harry And Meghan?

British royal family news shows that there is a bit, actually more than a bit, of controversy surrounding King Charles’ May 6, 2023 coronation date. Over half a year away, the event is so glorious that it needs a staff of fulltime planners to make it a success.
With that kind of dedicated effort it would appear that the ceremony is destined to go down in history as a grand once-in-a lifetime party. Except for the boo birds who are already raining on the parade.
Royal Family News – The Coronation Is Next Year
The exact date happens to be Prince Harry’s son Archie’s birthdate. Was the choosing of the date an intentional honor or calculated snub? Believe it or not, this is what royal watchers are wondering.
As Marie Claire puts it: “Upon learning of the date of King Charles III’s upcoming coronation on May 6, 2023, astute royal followers generally had one thought: that’s Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s fourth birthday.”
“Especially with the ongoing tensions between Charles and his younger son, Prince Harry, the date raised questions—was this a slight to the Duke of Sussex and his family?”
Royal Family News – Did Charles Chose A Verboten Date?
According to esteemed royal author Tom Bower the date is meaningless. He told Page Six it’s only a bird brain who would believe that, “the Palace intentionally chose May 6 as a dig at Harry, wife Meghan Markle, and their children Archie and Lilibet.”
“Archie’s birthday was the last thing they thought about,” claims Bower. The author of Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors says, “The date was chosen because it’s just before the State Opening of Parliament and Charles will want to appear as king with his crown and the whole ceremonial [robes].”
Royal Family News – Will Charles Change His Date?
He added, “They looked at what was happening in Britain. They didn’t look at what was happening in Montecito. The idea that anyone was concerned with that is nonsense.”
There are a couple of other potential snafus to know about. First, Camilla is set to wear a tiara that is the subject of controversy owing to the Koh-I-Noor diamond set into it.
Apparently its ownership is up for debate, with the question a sore subject for India. There is also word that courtiers are petitioning to have Camilla known simply as Queen, without the qualifier Consort added. A lot can happen in six months.
