Meghan Markle Suffers Major Setback

According to recent reports, Meghan Markle and her Archewell Audio team have been denied the right to trademark Meghan’s podcast name “Archetypes” due to another business bearing a similar name.

United States Patent and Trademark Office Rejects Meghan Markle’s “Archetypes” For This Common Reason

Meghan Markle and her team at Archewell Audio had applied to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the trademark of “Archetypes”, but they were dealt a legal blow when it was turned down.

The filing was rejected because the office felt that if the trademark was granted, there would be confusion between it and another business bearing a similar name. “Likelihood of confusion” is the most common reason that the USPTO will decline an application.

The Royal Family – The Application

The application was originally filed by Archewell Audio in March 2022, with the aim of no one else being able to use it for services connected to podcasts, audio and visual web series, on-demand streaming media and live stage performances.

Originally launched last summer, the podcast focused on derogatory words that are usually used to disregard women. It featured high profile guests including Markle’s close friend Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Issa Rae, Ziwe and many others.

On Spotify, the description of the podcast reads: “Archetypes with Meghan – a podcast where we investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.”

Another paragraph – no longer shown on the site – read: “Meghan will speak with historians and experts to uncover the origin of these stereotypes and have uncensored conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives.

In other news, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children finally have the “Prince” and “Princess” title after news emerged they were evicted from Frogmore Cottage following the release of “Spare”.
