General Hospital spoilers tease that viewers were shocked to learn the news that Kelly Monaco is being let go from General Hospital.
Monaco has been playing Sam McCall on the show since October of 2003. The character of Sam is reportedly being killed off later this year.
According to sources, Monaco was “blindsided” by Sam’s departure from the canvas. But General Hospital wasn’t the first time Monaco visited Port Charles.
General Hospital Spoilers – Kelly Monaco Played Livvie Locke On Port Charles
In the year 2000, Monaco joined the cast of General Hospital spin-off Port Charles. She played the character of Livvie Locke from 2000 – 2003.
When Port Charles was cancelled, Monaco was approached by several soaps to join their cast but she enventually settled on the role of Sam McCall.
Sam has quite the history in Port Charles and has had many romances with the likes of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard), Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).
GH Spoilers – Sam McCall Won Jason Morgan’s Heart
Sam’s romance with Jason was her longest running storyline. Sam and Jason were both danger junkies, so they had all sorts of adventures together. But eventually they got married and had a son, Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn).
Jason was eventually presumed dead, and Sam had a romance with his twin brother Drew Quartermaine (now played by Cameron Matheson). Drew believed he was Jason until the real Jason came back.
Sam and Jason eventually reunited but finally broke up when Sam decided she could no longer live with the type of danger Jason brought into their lives.

In recent years, Sam has embarked on a romance with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zomprogna). They seem to be quite happy but that could change once Dante’s former wife, Lulu Spencer (last played by Emme Rylan) wakes up from her years long coma.
With Sam now set to die, it seems that General Hospital is planning to reunite Dante and Lulu, If you are one of the many fans that want General Hospital executives to reconsider the decision to let Monaco go, here’s the link to the change.org petition.

I’ve been watching GH for many years and seeing new people being brought in, some to fill in for a person, sometimes they end up taking over a character. There not as good as the original person but, We the Fans have to deal with it, like Molly. She’s a nother person that you should back after she does her time, so what she got caught for a DUI. There’s not many of the original characters that GH was built on. It will be nice to see Lucky and hope he stays for a while. KEEP SAM (KELLY MONACO) !!!!!!

I’m not a big fan of the Dante/Sam relationship. It lacks that GH spark. With that said, WHY would GH writers EVER consider killing Sam off? Why would they EVER let Kelly Monaco go!? This is ridiculous! Sam is a great character and deserves to have her own story on GH. Whether she and Jason reunite is neither here nor there… Sam has her OWN tale to tell. Firing Kelly Monaco is a stupid, wasteful, and short-sited decision. Is she aging out for them? Heck. No. Kelly’s Sam has so much life and energy. Ok, things won’t work out with Dante, but that doesn’t mean she’s done. Sam is young and vibrant. (Still ticked that she and Drew – Billy Miller – [RIP] ended) Whatever storyline the writers have cooked up is foolhardy if it involves Monaco being fired. Wake up writers!! Sam has lots more to do… PLUS…. she has young kids. Isn’t Violet going thru her trauma enough? Keep Kelly Monaco and give her a great storyline!

She is an important character who needs a better storyline if they are bringing back the character Lulu they need to find a way to bring back the chemistry between Jason and Sam. What happened to the Phoenix and the Dragon? The writers need to give Kelly’s character a chance to survive on the show.

Unfortunately Sam has not had a decent story line in awhile. I guess it’s because they keep bringing back characters that should stay gone. Why ??
