DOOL spoilers reveal that fans were shocked to find out all the cast members leaving the NBC soap opera. Then, there seemed to be a 180 and now, we are finding out that a lot of them are actually returning. So, what is the deal with that? Head writer Ron Carlivati explained the situation to Soap Opera Digest.

He said that during the soap renewal process, things were really uncertain. This led to some cast members deciding to move on before they found out the soap had eventually been renewed. Now that everything is signed and sealed, some of the actors came back. This includes Galen Gering.

Salem is without a police commissioner right now because Rafe had to leave town with his sister, Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus). Although everyone thinks it’s because their mother is sick in Mexico, it’s really due to Eduardo Hernandez’s (A Martinez) shady dealings. Now, when Rafe comes back, it won’t be the same town he left. There hasn’t been a hero to save Salem from the multiple villains that are running around.

Days of Our Lives spoilers also reveal that when Rafe comes back, there will be one major person missing. That individual is Hope Brady. The two had actually decided to give love another shot when Eduardo suddenly showed up and Ciara was kidnapped.

Rafe will also learn what happened to Ciara Brady Weston as a result of Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) working with the wrong man. Vincent was determined to avenge the death of Wendy Taylor (Denice Duff), who was the midwife killed by Ben during his serial killing days.

To get revenge, Vincent kidnapped Ciara and will make Ben believe that she dies in an explosion. So, Rafe will get filled in on all these startling events when he finally returns to Salem. He will certainly have a lot to deal with, both personally and professionally.
