Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle, Jr. has been arrested for drunk driving, according to People. The incident occurred just days after he announced his engagement to his girlfriend of two years. Here’s what we know about what led to his DUI arrest.

Thomas, Jr.’s Arrest

Markle was stopped by Oregon State Police at 1:33 a.m. on Friday, January 11. According to the police report, he took a breathalyzer after failing a field sobriety test and he had a blood alcohol level of .11. The legal limit is .08.

Thomas, Jr. was immediately arrested and taken to Grants Pass Sobering Center. The police impounded his car.

Previous Legal Trouble

This is not the first time Thomas, Jr has been in legal trouble either. IN 2017, he was arrested for domestic violence after holding his girlfriend, Darlene Blount at gunpoint during a fight. His girlfriend ended up dropping the charges almost immediately.

Meghan does not talk to her half-siblings. They were out of the house by the time she was born. Thomas, Jr, and Samantha are Thomas, Sr. children from his first marriage.

In May, Thomas, Jr made headlines when he went to the media to blast his sister, Meghan for not inviting their father to her wedding. Meghan’s brother couldn’t understand why the Duchess decided to cut their dad out of her life.

Even after everything that has happened between Meghan and the Markle family, Thomas, Jr said he plans to invite Meghan and Prince Harry to his wedding in March. He feels it could be a fresh start for the family and could lead to a reunion.
