The Bold and the Beautiful alum Pierson Fode portrayed Thomas Forrester, which is now played by Matthew Atkinson. The actor opened up about grieving the loss of a family member. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, his grandpa Roy died. Fode shared some wise advice to fans regarding life and death.

On Instagram, Fode explained that a few weeks ago, he suffered a tragic family loss. His beloved grandfather passed away. Born in 1934, Roy died in his sleep while under quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic.

B&B fans probably had no idea that Fode was dealing with a family death. The actor explained that things might seem incredible on the surface, but that doesn’t mean it looks like that on the inside. Courtney Hope, who plays Sally Spectra on B&B typed a touching response to Fode. The actress shared that there has been a lot of death in her life, so it’s a topic she thinks about each day.

“Thanks for opening up a dialogue surrounding it, and making it something to embrace as opposed to fear. It’s propelled my life and my relationships because I know how quickly it can all change.”

The Bold and the Beautiful alum really wished that his grandpa would have been able to see Fode’s new film, “The Man From Toronto.” Then, he suggested an open, honest discussion about dying and death.

“I wanted to have an open dialogue about death and dying as it’s never talked about till it’s too late. Rather than just saying ‘I’m sorry’ I hope people begin to ask what your favorite memories of someone you lost were. To help remember their life and not just death.”
